KAI Matsumoto is a hot spring ryokan located by the historical Asama Onsen hot Springs. Long ago, these hot springs flourished as a retreat for residents of the nearby Matsumoto Castle. The ryokan was established as the first of four facilities in 2011 under the ryokan brand KAI. The city of Matsumoto has attracted attention from around the world as the home of Matsumoto Castle. Designated a national treasure, this beautiful historic castle changes appearance with each season. The city is also famous as the origin of Suzuki method music schools, which have fostered many world-class musicians. At KAI Matsumoto, each evening, local musicians hold a concert in the lobby. With more than 50 locally produced wines available at all times, guests can indulge in music and wine to their heart’s content. Also, visitors can soak in the Asama hot springs, said to have once been the court hot springs of the lord of Matsumoto Castle. The large bath offers eight different hot bathing methods.
