Hakone・Suishoen
In every room, an open-air bath flows with pure hot spring waters Echoes of the Taisho era float through this onsen inn
In the Taisho era (1912-1926), this estate, known as Mitsui Suishoen, was originally built as a villa for the aristocratic Mitsui family, once one of Japan’s most powerful business conglomerates. This nationally registered Tangible Cultural Property has now become Hakone Suishoen, a traditional Japanese restaurant steeped in the air of the Taisho era, with a guest room wing built to provide the highest standards of modern comfort.
In every room is an open-air bath flowing with natural hot spring waters. The 9,920-square-meter grounds are home to a momiji Japanese maple said to be three centuries old, as well as flowers and plants chosen to celebrate the beauty of every season. Dining options include Japanese cuisine made with fresh local ingredients, or the dynamic experience of a teppanyaki feast. The spa, by the elite French brand Sisley, leaves nothing to be desired. Bring peace to your heart and mind during your time here.
