Known as a great place for skiing and snowboarding, Niseko Town is one of the heaviest snowfall areas in Hokkaido. The powder snow in this area makes it very popular among skiers. In addition to winter with snow, this place offers various activities and many places with great views in other seasons, attracting many visitors from all over. After enjoying the great outdoors, you can relax in Niseko Onsen, an onsen town with numerous onsen sources.
In the western part of Hokkaido, Niseko Onsen town is located at the base of the surrounding mountains, such as the Niseko Volcanic Group, including Mount Niseko Annupuri, and Mount Yotei. Blessed with various kinds of spring water, including those containing sodium, hydrogen carbonate, and sulfate, this area offers you an opportunity to enjoy different textures of hot springs, such as one that leaves a moist film on your skin or one mild on your skin, for different areas and different hotels.
The biggest onsen area in Niseko is Niseko Kombu Onsen. As it is located along a mountain stream, you can enjoy beautiful scenery with fresh green leaves in spring and red and yellow leaves in autumn. Other popular onsen areas include “Niseko Higashiyama Onsen,” which is conveniently located at the base of a ski area, “Niseko Ekimae Onsen,” with great accessibility from the station, “Niseko Goshiki Onsen,” which is said to contain five different types of springs that are good for health, and “Niseko Yumoto Onsen,” which has a mud onsen. There are also many other onsen areas with different atmospheres, including Annupuri, Hirafu, Kutchan, Hanazono, Kombugawa, Yakushi, and Waisu, throughout Niseko Town and Rankoshi Town at the base of Mount Yotei, creating an onsen paradise. There are three kinds of Niseko Yumeguri Pass (Niseko’s hot springs pass) available. Choose one of these according to your preference to enjoy various kinds of onsen in the area.
Being able to enjoy the grand nature of Hokkaido is another reason to visit Niseko Onsen. In summer, you can enjoy trekking, rafting, and fishing in clear streams, and horse-back riding through grasslands. In winter, there are not only skiing and backcountry skiing but also various other ways to enjoy Niseko, such as a reindeer sled tour where you can go around a snow field on a sled pulled by reindeers. There are also fun indoor activities, such as craft-making at a workshop.
Niseko Onsen has a variety of spas as well as activities. Find your own way to spend a great time at Niseko.
